Course Information

This Competency Standard Unit covers the knowledge and application of Electricity Supply Industry (ESI) safety rules and codes of practice for work on or near electrical apparatus it includes the application of relevant State and Territory safety rules, codes of practice and enterprise based procedures and how they apply in the context of transmission, distribution or rail work functions. It encompasses responsibilities for, health, safety and risk management processes at all operative levels and adherence to safety practices as part of the normal way of doing work.

The program is delivered over a period of one (1) week. Specifically:

Target Students

Target students attending this course are looking to achieve the knowledge and application of Electricity Supply Industry (ESI) safety rules and codes of practice for work on or near electrical apparatus. The course includes the application of relevant State and Territory safety rules, codes of practice and enterprise based procedures and how they apply in the context of transmission, distribution or rail work functions.

Target students are seeking the knowledge and application of responsibilities for, health, safety and risk management processes at all operative levels and adherence to safety practices as part of the normal way of doing work

Group 1 New Starters

Target clients are workers who have not completed electricity supply industry (ESI) safety rules and codes of practice for work on or near electrical apparatus training or people have not completed this training for some time who may be required to follow electricity supply industry (ESI) safety rules and codes of practice for work on or near electrical apparatus in a range of situations, including workplace settings.

Group 2 Refresher

Apply ESI safety rules, codes of practice and procedures for work on or near electrical apparatus has a one (1) year validity and must be refreshed annually by any and all persons working LIVE

 ESI employees are required to maintain currency in this Unit for authorisation/approval to work on ESI Networks.

This program is designed to be run as a public program or can be customised to meet specific client needs. On successful completion of the training program students will be awarded a Statement of Attainment for UETTDRRF01B Apply ESI safety rules, codes of practice and procedures for work on or near electrical apparatus

A purpose built training facility is located at the Accelerated Training premises.

Pre-requisites

Accelerated Training has identified that applicants will already hold fundamental knowledge and demonstrate key skills that are integral to completing the training program within the described time frame. Accelerated Training will confirm students are suited to the training program in which they enrol and be given the best opportunity for a positive vocational outcome. Confirmation of the student’s suitability (prior to accepting enrolment) includes collecting documents and evidence to identify and confirm prior skills and knowledge and to ensure the student is suited to this program of study.

Enrolment is normally one (1) week prior to the scheduled face to face training day. When the enrolment is accepted Accelerated Training will:

Language Literacy & Numeracy

Accelerated Training will conduct a Language Literacy and Numeracy test prior to accepting enrolment

According to the UET12 Transmission, Distribution and Rail Sector Training Package, students are best equipped to achieve this unit if they have reading, writing and numeracy skills indicated by the following scales. Description of each scale is given in Volume 2, Part 3 “Literacy and Numeracy” in the Training Package
